Valle Cannobina and Val Grande

Valle Cannobina

The Valle Cannobina is rich of small villages, while Val Grande is the largest wilderness area in Europe.

A trip from Cannobio to Locarno via the Valle Vigezzo and the Centovalli is very interesting. Interesting stops include the Orrido di Sant’Anna (medieval church and bridge), Malesco, Santa Maria Maggiore, Re and Ponte Brolla.

From Cannobio, you can also take a narrow mountain footpath to Carmine Superiore, an ancient village situated on a massive rock where you can enjoy spectacular views of most of the lake.

Val Grande

For more experienced hikers, the Val Grande National Park offers a unique experience: the largest wilderness area in Italy, where silence and untouched nature reign supreme. The trails, often demanding and immersed in a wild environment, require maximum caution and the guidance of expert guides.
